I am a Research Software Engineer at the School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh. My main interests are
- Programming: These days I mostly program python and some C. I also really enjoy programming in Fortran, preferably the more recent object-oriented standards. I also do high performance computing, using MPI or OpenMP to parallelise large codes.
- SysAdmin: I help manage the School's Linux servers and Desktops using the LCFG configuration management system. I am particularly interested in infrastructure. We use ceph to manage our storage and OpenNebula for our virtualisation cluster.
- My PhD Thesis is available online: Reconstruction of the Past and Forecast of the Future European and British Ice Sheets and Associated Sea-Level Change
- I was one of the lead developers of the GLIMMER community ice sheet model in its early phases. I am the lead developer for the piccolo spectrometer system.
